Not every food that contains carbohydrates is considered a carb choice, just the starchy carbs like potatoes, rice, and high sugar foods, like fruit, milk and yogurt…
Surprisingly beets are not considered a starchy carb or too high in sugar, and can still be eaten within reason.
Some Carb Choices That I Use Are:
- 1 cup Milk or Yogurt
- 1/2 cup Boiled White Potatoes
- 1/2 cup Sweet Potatoes or Yams
- 1 cup Winter Squash
- 1/3 cup Brown Rice
- 3 oz Baked Potato
- 1/2 cup of Oatmeal
- 4 oz Banana
- 3/4 cup Blueberries
- 2 tbsp Raisins
Lower Your Blood Sugar & Personalize Your Carb Choices
Since a carb choice equals 15 carbohydrates, you could easily create your own list, just look up your favorite starchy carb or high sugar food and see how much you would need for 15 carbohydrates, then use that information to incorporate 3 carb choices per meal.
Roasted Pork 3 Carb Choice Meal
The Meal Consists Of:
3oz Roasted Pork Loin
2/3 cup Brown Rice
1 cup steamed Broccoli
1 cup steamed Butternut Squash
1 cup Romaine Lettuce
1\2 – 1 tbsp Braggs Aminos
1\2 – 1 tbsp Balsamic Vinegar
2 tsp Mayonaise
25 g Protein
15 g Fat
46 g Carbohydrate
