Butternut Squash Quickly Prepared
Maybe you have a boat load of Butternut Squash to do something with, or just one, here is a fast way to prepare Butternut Squash.
Peel The Squash
The first step is to wash the squash, then peel it… I have found that a Y peeler like the one below works best, I had to replace my peeler and got a different kind, and it would not peel for beans… When I got the new Y peeler I realized that there is no other peeler for this job…
Isn’t It Pretty?
When you get enough of the peel off, your Butternut Squash will look like this if it has light colored areas peel a little more off, till it is orange all over like mine.
Cut Peeled Squash In Half
Cut the peeled squash in half and scoop out the seeds and pulp, if you haven’t already, also cut off the ends.
Cut Butternut Squash Into Chunks
Cut up the peeled squash into strips then into smaller pieces or big chunks…
Steam or Boil Chunked Butternut Squash
In a Stir Fry Pan, Steamer Pot or another large pan, add the cut up squash and a small amount of water cover and cook till tender. If you have a steamer, steam your squash, I don’t have one. It took me about 10 minutes of boiling on high,,, I almost burned it when the water ran out but caught it just in time… 🙂
Breakfast With Butternut Squash
You may never eat squash for breakfast but I like it, it was very sweet and delicious… I ate a little too much and caused my blood sugar to crash… Boo…
But it was good, I have to remember not to eat too much when I have been cutting carbs…
