What Is Coconut Oil Laundry Soap?
When writing “How To Make Laundry Detergent” I realized that I needed a new bar soap recipe, the ones that I had were either too mild or were created for another use… We need a soap that is made to wash laundry… What kind of soap would that be? It would be a soap that dissolves easily and does not have any left over oils, that could cause fabrics to attract dirt.
Formulating Soap Recipes
When formulating soaps for personal use I make sure that they are superfatted and have lots of leftover oils, so that the soap is mild and easy on delicate skin… Another example is the Kitchen Soap Recipe while we would never use it on our skin, the recipe is great for washing dishes and cleaning the kitchen, still it has been superfatted so that it would be bearable to working hands.
Coconut Oil Soap
When you are creating a soap recipe that will dissolve easily, you want to use lots of Coconut Oil,,, Soaps with lots of Coconut Oil dissolve faster and better than any other oil or fat. So a 100% Coconut Oil Soap should be the best soap for a Laundry Soap.
Lye Heavy Soap
To ensure that our Laundry Soap is as free of leftover oils and fats I want to make the formula heavy with lye, that means we use either exactly what we need a zero superfat, or more than we need… I have chosen to make the soap fall a few points below a zero superfat… That should take care of all the oils and fats…
Soap Making Safety
When making Soap it is important that you take safety seriously, anytime you work with caustic chemicals there are risks, and Soap making is no different… At the bare minimum, you need to have protection for you Eyes, Hands, Arms, Legs, Feet, Nose, Lungs, Pets, Children & Other Household Members.
