Easy Cranberry Sauce
Easy Cranberry Sauce, is my attempt to re-create a loved food, that I cannot find in stores all year long. When it is available, usually the fall and winter months I forget to stock up, I would love to make enough for all year.
So Very Easy
Making Cranberry Sauce is so easy, that I wonder why I waited so long to try it… If you love Cranberry Sauce I think you will enjoy making your own homemade cranberry sauces… It is very easy and only takes 3 ingredients.
Only 3 Ingredients
If you want to get fancy there are many variations you could come up with; some recipes included apples, cinnamon, wine, probably anything you could think of,,, I like Cranberries and am happy to just keep it simple,,, That is what I am sharing with you, plain and simple Cranberry Sauce. All that I use are fresh whole Cranberries, Sugar and Water, and in a very short time we will have our own homemade Cranberry Sauce.
There is one thing about making Cranberry sauce from scratch that I am not crazy about, that is that the finished sauce still has noticeable berries… I was used to eating Cranberry Sauce from a can that did not have any sign of the original berries… I like smooth Cranberry Sauce, so I have come up with a plan to get my Cranberry Sauce as smooth as I can get it without to much extra work.
Since I did not have a strainer that would do the job. I decided to use my blender to grind the whole berries, it seemed to be a good idea, the berries were easy and fast to grind.
This is two bags of Cranberries washed and soaked in a little vinegar and baking soda, I do this to remove the fragrance that I smell on foods from the grocery store… Add Two Cups of filtered Water and Blend till Fine. I basically followed the directions on the bag of Cranberries, with the additions of grinding the berries.
Scrape all the ground cranberries into a pot, add 2 cups of sugar, stir well then turn on the heat to about medium. Cook till the sauce becomes a deep Cranberry color and has thickened some.
Now Pour and Scrape into containers…
Cranberry sauce will thicken as it cools,,, Refrigerate. Enjoy as you would any other Cranberry Sauce…
