Easy Clam Tomato Juice at Home from Scratch
Who would want to know how to make Clam Tomato juice? I would for one… It seems that I have an addiction to another drink that has both clam juice and tomato juice, you may have heard of it, Clamato. I don’t think that I even taste clams in Clamato, but the seasoning is delicious… Probably a lot more salt than I need, it is so strong that I can water it down a lot and it still tastes good.
Reasons For Making My Own
The biggest reason for making my own version was so that I could control what goes into it… The commercial version contains Mono Sodium Glutamate, which may be the reason I love it so much, Mono Sodium Glutamate is known to be addicting, it is used to make something not so good taste better, I just wonder what is being covered up, yuck.
Here is an ingredient list that I found: Water, Tomato Concentrate, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Monosodium Glutamate, Salt, Citric Acid, Onion Powder, Celery Seed, Ascorbic Acid, Garlic Powder, Dried Clam Broth, Spices ?, Vinegar, Natural Flavors, Red 40
I was wondering why my stomach fat was expanding, high fructose corn syrup is known to cause all kinds of issues… I did a quick search and found this little bit of information, when two groups of people were studied, one given high fructose corn syrup and the other given glucose the group with the hfc put on more belly fat… Drinking Clamato juice was becoming one of my favorite ways to drink water… A quarter to a half cup of Clamato and the rest water made me feel really happy. The same site shared this link this list of foods with no fructose corn syrup
Never Get It Perfect
Even if we had every ingredient that is used in the commercial Clam Tomato juice, we would still never get it to taste the same. But I am willing to try, I love Clam Tomato juice I don’t want to give it up…
So Many Uses
There are probably as many uses for Clam Tomato juice as there are people. I started using it to make a Seafood Tostada recipe. The Seafood Tostadas consisted of a hard corn tortilla, with a mix of shrimp, imitation crab, tomatoes, cilantro, garlic, spices and Clamato juice, it became a family favorite. Funny thing I never drank Clam Tomato juice before that.
In Canada, they make a kind of Bloody Mary with Clamato, they call it a Bloody Cesar. Many are familiar with Clamato Chelada, in Mexico they use it with Beer to make Micheladas, I bet you could come up with some uses of your own.
